Hyacinth had settled herself under a large tree near the lake with a good book and an apple that she’d gotten from the kitchen elves while on a snack hunt. The book was now resting closed next to her as she watched a few second years tickle the giant squid. The little scene reminded her of George. He used to do that on a fairly regular basis during his Hogwarts days. She sighed heavily. Soon she too would be referring to this as ‘the good old Hogwarts days’. Assuming everything went well at the Quidditch finals. Then a thought occurred to her; one that hadn’t reared its head in quite some time. If everything went well at the quidditch final, she might not get a chance to see what happened after. Her brow furrowed a little. If things went according to plan, or close to, no doubt, the girls work here would be done, and they’d go home. And then… what?

She took a bite of her apple as she pondered her thought. Would it just be a flash of light and then poof they’d be back? Would they get a chance to… what? She frowned. They couldn’t say good bye… not really. If her understanding of the spell was right, then these lives would continue without them. Would George notice that it wasn’t really her anymore? Her frown deepened. She knew that there was nothing she could do about any of it, but that didn’t seem to help. She finished her apple and floated it over to the nearest trash bin before turning her attention back to the lake. Her shadow lengthened slowly as the sun sank behind her. She could hear the chatter of small groups returning from Hogsmeade. She heard Rowena and Issobell call to her. She waved, silently indicating that she’d rather stay put for the time being.

As the last rays of the sun ducked behind the trees, she thought of heading inside. Just a few more minutes. She told herself as she brought her knees to her chest and hugged them. The sound of footfalls on the path didn’t really faze her. She heard the two people exchange a few words, but again, none of it really registered. She didn’t even realize that someone was standing behind her until the breeze carried the scent of butterbeer to her. She turned, jolted out of her contemplation to see George standing there, smiling at her.

“I was starting to wonder how long it would take you to notice me.” He smirked as he sat down next to her. “What had you so wrapped up?”

She shook her head a little. “It was nothing. Just thinking.” She rested her head on his shoulder as he pulled her closer.

“You had to be thinking of something.” He ran a hand over her hair.

A blush crept across her face. “Just… the future.” She didn’t see him smile down at her.

“And what do you see in the future?”

She looked up and just took him in for a moment before answering. “I… I don’t know.” Her cheeks burned. “I can’t seem to see anything past all this Order stuff.” It was the truth. She had no idea what would happen after the quidditch finals, and she didn’t really want to think too far into the future. What was the point of dreaming about something you wouldn’t be around for? She shook her head a little in an effort to rid herself of the thought. George squeezed her a little tighter.

“I know it seems dark.” He kissed the top of her head. “But the Order’s gotten past worse than this.”

She didn’t voice her concerns that the Order had their share of casualties in those times. She was tired of thinking of things that she couldn’t control. She snuggled closer to George. “What do you think about? Future wise?” Her voice was low, and he could barely hear her over a gust of wind.

He thought for a moment, unsure how much he should tell her. How would she react? Would a life above the joke shop be enough for her? He hoped so. Finally, he spoke. “Every time I picture the future, you’re there, Cin.” She looked up at him, her eyes shining. “Other things change, but you’re always there.” He waited for some kind of answer, but she didn’t speak. She reached up, placing her hand on his cheek. He was afraid for a moment that she might cry, but instead she pulled him down and kissed him passionately. That was all the answer he needed. The kiss deepened as the stars began to show above them. “Should we take this inside?” He saw something like mischief flash in her eyes.

“Why?” She grinned up at him. “Who’s going to find us out here?” She leaned over, flicking her tongue across his ear. “Let’s give the squid a show.”

He let out a laugh. “See, it is things like that that make you so perfect!” He didn’t give her a chance to respond as he claimed her lips with his. She let out a giggle as he grabbed her thighs and pulled her on top of him, tickling the backs of her knees in the process. His lips claimed hers hungrily as his hands worked the buttons on her blouse loose. He didn’t undo them all, just the few he needed out of the way to slip his hands over her bare breasts underneath. As one hand began to tease her nipple, the other slid down and floated over the fabric between her legs. She moaned into his mouth as he put just a little more pressure into his touches. She could feel him hard against her thigh.

Her head fell back. “Gods, George!” All thought of future possibilities flew from her mind and were quickly replaced with strong pulses of pleasure. He pushed aside the delicate piece of fabric and ran his fingers over her exposed flesh, getting another gasp to escape from her mouth. He watched a blush creep across her face as his fingers worked their way in between her folds and finally slip into her. She choked back a moan as his fingers began to move inside her.

“Come on, Cin.” He smirked at her. “Every show needs a soundtrack.” A shiver ran through her as the finger wiggling intensified and she let another moan out. His other hand slipped out of her blouse, and pulled her lips down to meet his.

She groaned again, pulling reluctantly out of the kiss. “George, please…” She reached for the fly of his pants, getting it and his belt undone in record time. She claimed his lips as she slowly lowered herself onto his waiting erection. His hips rose to meet hers in a slow, steady rhythm. Neither cared if someone walked by, or if someone caught them. Nothing could possibly be bad enough to cancel out the pleasure they were both wrapped in. His grip on her hips tightened slightly, speeding the rhythm as they both drove toward their orgasm. He felt her muscles clench around him as she cried out, disregarding their surroundings entirely. As her muscles milked him, she brought him over the edge with her and finally collapsed in his arms.

Eventually, she rolled off of him, curling up next to him on the grass and staring up at the stars that were now out in force. A quick flick of his wand cleaned them both up, and he pulled her closer. “Cin?”

“Mmm?”

“After all this is over… all this Order business, and school and all that…” he took a deep breath. “Will you marry me?”

She blinked a few times, not sure if she’d heard him right at first. She sat up, placing a hand on his chest and looking down at him. He couldn’t have looked more serious. “You… you want to marry me?” She could feel her cheeks flush, and her eyes started to sting a little as he nodded. She let out a bit of a giggle and kissed him passionately. That was the only answer he needed.
