Rowena fanned herself dramatically with the quidditch tickets as Azalea gaped at her. “How?”
Rowena laughed. “My Dad. He’s got seasons tickets with my uncles… four of them apparently, so he got first crack at finals tickets. He asked me what I wanted for graduation, and I told him I wanted to go to the quidditch finals with my three best friends.” She slipped the tickets into her pocket. “You know, I think you guys are rubbing off on me.”
“It’s not a bad thing you know.” Azalea smiled despite her horrid mood. “Besides, I’m almost convinced that you Ravenclaws are just as bad as we are.” Rowena looked curious at this. “Well, knowledge is power, power corrupts, right?” Both girls laughed before a silence fell over the room. Azalea’s eyes drifted over to the now merrily crackling fire in the hearth.
“You could just… go to Puddlemere, and find out for sure.” Rowena’s voice cut the silence, but she sounded a bit nervous about her own idea, though she relaxed as Azalea shook her head.
“No, I need to calm down first. Going down there fuming and screaming at him isn’t going to get me anywhere.” Azalea exhaled loudly and sunk a little deeper into the plush chair.
“Wow,” Rowena looked slightly surprised. “That’s very… Slytherin of you.”
Azalea nodded slightly. “That and I don’t have the energy for a screaming match right now.” She looked down at the table between her and Rowena and frowned at the copy of the Prophet that sat there. She could feel herself growing angry again and she got up and started to pace, hoping it would calm her down. It wasn’t working. Finally she stopped and looked at Rowena. “You think I should go?”
Reluctantly, Rowena nodded. “It’ll eat you alive until you know for sure.” Azalea nodded again and frowned a bit. Snape was no where to be found, so she wasn’t exactly sure who she should tell she was leaving. Rowena smiled. “I’ll let someone know you’re gone. I’ll tell them it was a family emergency or something.”
“Thank you.” Azalea returned the smile, grabbed the floo powder and vanished into the green flames that sprang up in the hearth.
Rowena slowly got up from the couch, figuring that the students Azalea had frightened off would more than likely be coming back soon, and probably wouldn’t appreciate a Ravenclaw sitting on their couch. She considered her options for a moment before a smile crept across her face and she headed up to the seventh year boys dorm. She knocked tentatively, hoping Draco was alone, and she was in luck. “Can I come in?”
“Of course.” Draco smirked at her, slightly surprised that she hadn’t simply left for her own common room.
She stepped into his room hesitantly. “Is everyone else gone for the week?” Draco nodded. She caught sight of his trunk, half packed, and several things flung around the room. “Are you going too?”
“I don’t really have a choice.” He frowned a bit. “My father insisted. At least I should get some… research done.”
Rowena’s brow wrinkled. “So it’s that kind of trip home…” her lips pursed slightly.
Draco nodded again. “It’s a busy week for the Order.” He turned back to his trunk and began throwing things in it. “Where’s Haverty?”
“Puddlemere.”
Draco chuckled softly. “I almost feel sorry for Wood.”
So,” Rowena settled herself on Draco’s bed. “When will you be back?”
“Sunday, probably late.” He lifted his eyes and caught her looking slightly dejected by this. “What is it?”
“Well,” She took a deep breath, “Hyacinth is away meeting the Weasleys, Azalea just left for Puddlemere, and the gods only know where Issobell disappeared to… and now, you’re leaving too.” She smiled a little. “I think this is going to be a very lonely week.”
Draco put down the pair of socks he was holding and pulled her into his arms, kissing the top of her head softly. “I wish I could say that I wanted to invite you to meet my parents. I wish they were the type of parents I’d want you to meet.” He brought his lips to hers for a moment. “Someday, I promise you we’ll have a normal relationship. Dinner with the parents, date nights, all of it.” She smiled up at him. “That’s why I’m doing this. For you.”
Rowena’s eyes grew a little wider. “For me?” He nodded. She couldn’t help herself as she smirked. “I thought it was for the betterment of the wizarding community.”
He laughed and kissed her again. “Well, there is that too.” His eyes sparkled for a moment. “To be honest though, the whole wizarding community could burn for all I care as long as I have you.” She felt her cheeks grow warmer as he brushed a strand of hair off of her forehead. “I do need to finish packing. My father expects me home for dinner.” He kissed her softly once more. As she moved for the door, he rested a hand on her shoulder. “And you’re never alone, Rowena.” It was his turn to smirk. “You still have the Pensieve after all.”
