So apparently all it takes to get me motivated is a new movie. *facepalm* This time I mean it when I say, I won't let it go this long again. I promise.

Rowena distracted herself by focusing on the smell of old leather and parchment. She distantly wondered what sort of volumes there were to find in Lucius Malfoy’s study, though deep down she knew there likely at least a few tomes in there that even she wanted absolutely nothing to do with.

Narcissa’s cold voice cut through her thoughts. “No doubt you are aware of some of the traditions involved in meeting a potential spouse’s family. I would assume,” her eyebrow rose and her tone got just a touch icier, “that your family would have schooled you in such things by now.”

They hadn’t. Her family was far more progressive than most pure bloodlines. All she knew about these traditions, she’d learned from the texts she’d dug up and from her friends. She had all the information she could find about it all, but something told her that if she’d been properly schooled in such things, as her friends had been, that nervous twitch in her stomach wouldn’t be nearly as distracting. “Yes, yes… I know a little. But I have been told that each family has their own set of… traditions.”

Before anyone responded, Lucius called Draco closer. The way Draco’s expression shifted made Rowena’s stomach drop. “I absolutely will not.”

“I could ask worse of you.” Lucius’s eyes narrowed. “You are my only son, and it is within my right to demand much more of some girl you wish to bring into this family. If you refuse again, I will do it myself.” Draco tensed. He nodded, looking very defeated and Lucius continued. “Take off the gown, girl.”

Rowena’s eyes grew wide. Up until that point she’d thought maybe the texts were just out of date, or maybe her friends were giving her worst case scenarios. “Excuse me?”

“Take off the gown or I will do it for you.” Lucius’s wand appeared as if from nowhere. Rowena blocked the spell on instinct. He smiled a cold smile a moment later. “Very good. Now remove the gown.”

Rowena locked eyes with Draco for a moment and tried to block out everything else around them as she took off her robes. She felt her cheeks heat up and the rest of her shiver when all that fabric hit the floor. Draco took several steps closer and leaned in as if he were going to kiss her. Narcissa’s voice cut across the room. “No, Draco. You don’t want to contaminate the process do you? We’d have to start all over again.”

Rowena was close enough to see him shake a little. “No. Of course not.”

“Then get on with it, boy.” Lucius laughed softly, settling in beside his wife on a couch near the fireplace. “Unless you like dragging this out…” he smirked, “or she does.”

“I’m sorry.” Draco sighed and lifted his wand, touching it softly to her lips and whispering an incantation. “Testimonium sanctimonia.” As he pulled the tip of the wand from her lips a strong green glow, under that, at the core of the light was a faint tinge of blue. They both stared at it and Rowena caught the edge of worry in Draco’s eyes.

“Well?” Lucius’s voice cut through the moment. Draco swallowed hard and turned to face his parents, wand held in front of him. Lucius spoke again after a moment. “Well, well.” His eyebrow rose. “You have been a naughty girl, haven’t you?”

“Oh, come now, Lucius.” Narcissa barely moved and seemed bored by the whole proceeding. “We all make mistakes.” The woman regarded Rowena as if she was very sure this young Ravenclaw would absolutely fit into her son’s mistakes category.

“Well,” Lucius’ voice brought her attention back to him. “Who was he? Tell me you at least had the decency not to play whore to some mudblood or half breed!”

“He… he was…” Rowena’s voice shook until she caught Draco’s eye again. She took a deep breath and spoke again. “He was a pureblood. M-marcus… Marcus Prewett.”

Lucius stared at her for a moment longer before turning to his wife. “That isn’t the line that produced that ghastly Weasley woman, is it?”

“No, darling.”

“Very well then.” Lucius sighed as if he’d hoped this Prewett person would have been of the same line as Molly Weasley, and he’d have an excuse to toss Rowena out the door with or without her robes. But he waved his hand toward Draco. “Continue. We don’t want the girl to freeze to death because you were timid.”

Draco sighed and his eyes closed before he slid his wand down Rowena’s stomach. She tensed as it slipped between her thighs and the tip pressed into her. Draco murmured the spell again and slowly pulled the wand from her body. The glow this time was only green, and it was bright. He gave her half a smile before turning and presenting the wand and its glow to his parents again.

Narcissa smiled, though it was a cold thing that brought absolutely no joy to her face. “Well, that’s certainly a surprise.”

Even from behind him, Rowena could imagine the look Draco gave his mother. “Why would you say that?”

“Oh Draco, really.” She laughed and again there was no warmth to the sound. “It’s almost sweet that you’d want to make an honest woman of the girl after you’ve… well.” A smug little grin crossed her face.

Lucius finished the thought for her. “After you’ve ruined her for any other self respecting wizard.”

Rowena felt her cheeks heat up again and watched the tension tighten Draco’s shoulders. “Perhaps I should have brought her here first? Then you’d have mocked me for not ‘being a man’. Really father, you should make up your mind.”

A deep laugh left Lucius and suddenly memories of the stories Azalea and Hyacinth had told popped into Rowena’s mind. She worked hard to keep herself from shivering or from whimpered; from doing anything that might show any sign of weakness. She fought to focus on the pride she felt for Draco as he stood, head held high after saying such things to his father.

“Well, no one would dare question your manhood now, would they, Draco?” Sarcasm dripped from every word. “Finish the test.”

“Father, that’s completely unnecessary.”

“Draco, I am the head of this family and I will tell you what is necessary or not.” A threat colored Lucius’ words. “Now, finish this. Now.”

“Draco?” Rowena kept her voice as soft as she could.

He pressed a soft kiss to her lips and whispered to her. “Just… relax, okay? It’s almost over. I promise.” She nodded and took a shaky breath as his arms snaked around her. She tensed when the tip of his wand slipped between the globes of her ass and pressed just into her. Rowena bit her lip and hid her face against his shoulder as he said the charm one more time.

As he pulled away, the bright white light nearly threw shadows on the nearby wall. He turned toward his parents again and scowled.

“Are you satisfied now?” Draco took Rowena’s hand and kept her behind him as best he could.

“Not nearly.” Lucius was grinning. Rowena was sure that couldn’t be a good sign. “You know how the tests were concluded before, my son.” He laughed softly and stood, moving to take Draco’s wand in hand. “That light will be green by the morning or this was all for nothing.” He gave it a sharp wave and the light died. Draco snatched his wand back as Lucius turned toward his wife. “Come, darling. I think they may need a little privacy.” He laughed again and escorted Narcissa out of the library.

Rowena shot forward, grabbing her robes and quickly redressing. “Draco…”

“I’m sorry.” He pulled her tight against him. “I’m so so sorry, Rowena. I swear I had no idea he’d be so insistent with all of this. I thought mother would…” He sighed and kissed the top of her head. “I’m sorry.”

“What did he mean?” She pulled back and watched confusion cross his face. “About the light. He doesn’t mean we have to—” She swallowed hard and waved her hand vaguely. She knew the answer already but she was hoping she was wrong. Draco nodded and opened his mouth to no doubt apologize again. Her cheeks lit up. “I’ve never…”

He chuckled softly. “That is, actually the point.”

“Oh.” The word came out flat. Of course it was the point. Rowena sighed and stared at everything in the room but Draco. “And if we don’t—”

“Then its back to sneaking around until I can figure something else out.”

“Oh.” Again, the word came out flat. “All right, then.”

“What?”

“Let’s… find a room and do what we have to do.”

“That’s… not exactly what I ever want to hear form you when it comes to things like this, Rowena.” His eyes darkened. “But if you’re sure.”

“I’m not sure, but I don’t want to be your dirty little secret until you work something out.” She leaned into him, letting him wrap his arms around her. “I trust you.”

“That’s probably not the smartest thing you’ve ever done, Ravenclaw.” He let out another sad little chuckle.

“No, probably not.” She let him lead her through the house to his rooms. She felt it as they passed through a ward, no doubt part of his family’s spell. “Draco,” she paused just inside the door.

“We can figure something else out if—“

She quickly silenced him, pressing herself tightly against him until he backed them to the edge of the bed and they fell into it together. When the room was littered with robes and they were tucked together under the covers, she paused again. “You… you do know what you’re doing right?”

He kissed her and sighed. “Don’t worry.” He kissed her again. “I’ve got you.” He rolled her gently onto her side and held her close, pressing his lips to her shoulders. One hand slid over her hip and between her thighs, fingers stroking well known paths to her core and playing lightly over her clit. Her breath caught as the tip of his wand played across her skin again, but her hips bucked as he pressed on her clit again. “Shh, don’t move. I don’t want to hurt you.” He nipped at her throat as his fingers started moving again.

She fought the urge to tense as the tip of the wand pressed into her. She was barely conscious of him muttering a charm a moment later but she felt the tip cool and… something press slowly into her. She gasped as the construct—she assumed it was a construct of some kind—moved and pulsed and grew almost imperceptibly. His fingers kept moving, distracting her from any discomfort that might accidentally happen. He whispered to her again and again; words of love and praise and reassurance.

She’d never be sure how long they laid there. Time seemed to have lost meaning until she spoke in a voice that barely sounded like her own. “Draco… please….” She groaned as whatever was inside her pulsed again. “Please… I want you.”

His fingers slid into her for a moment; his thumb picking up the rhythm they’d set on her clit. “Just a little more.” She cried out as the magic pulsed against, growing larger. He groaned against her throat. “Rowena…” she could feel him hard against the back of her thigh. He pulled the wand from her and the magic left her feeling empty and slick.

She rolled toward him, reaching for her own wand and muttering a charm of her own. A moment later, she cupped her hand before stroking it up and down his shaft. He shivered, the lube she’d conjured apparently a little cool for his liking. “You aren’t the only one with magic, Mr. Malfoy.” She smiled.

“Rowena, are you sure--”

She nodded. “Actually, if you back out now, I may have to curse you.” She smiled and pressed a kiss to his lips.

He rolled her back over, kissing up her neck and across her shoulders as he pressed against her. “Breathe…” he whispered to her as she fought not to tense. He moved slowly, stopping every time her breath hitched or some vague sound left her lips. His fingers took up their spot on her clit, moving slowly; keeping her gasping but not pushing her over the edge. He finally pressed tight against her back and she moaned as her body trembled. “You are beautiful like this…” his voice was breathy and a little strained against her ear.

“Draco… oh Merlin, please!”

He bit gently on her earlobe. “Not yet. Just… wait.” He groaned against her skin. Finally he pulled back slowly; everything he did was slow and careful. With each stroke his confidence seemed to come back to him. With each stroke, the movement of his fingers on her clit increased. She was gasping and begging him for release by the time he found a rhythm he wanted. “Soon… Merlin, Rowena…” he bit her shoulder for a moment. “So… close…”

The room filled with the sounds of passion and pleas until finally, he let her fall into the abyss, screaming his name and he followed quickly after.

They lay there connected for as long as they could. Rowena finally pulled away with a quiet groan and whispered a quick cleansing spell over both of them before snuggling back into his arms. “See?” she said quietly. “That wasn’t so bad.”

He laughed and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “I’m glad to hear that.”

~*~*~*~

The test was finished first thing in the morning with a house elf announcing its master’s arrival before either Draco or Rowena had woken up.

Once they’d dressed and eaten in his room, quick excuses were made and they returned to the school. Rowena had never felt so relieved to see Ravenclaw tower in her years at Hogwarts. Even though she had passed the Malfoy family tribunal, she was sure she’d never live up to any standard Draco’s mother might have for her.

She found comfort back in the library, working on the task Dumbledore had set for her, trying to piece things together. She didn’t notice when Hyacinth sat down next to her and nearly jumped a foot in the air when the Slytherin touched her arm. “How’d it go?”

“Apparently, I’m acceptable.” Rowena shrugged. “Just barely.”

“So… it wasn’t too bad?”

“Draco took my virginity.” Rowena was in no mood to mince words.

Hyacinth’s brow crinkled for a moment. “But we already knew that. You haven’t been a virgin in--” A light dawned in her eyes a moment later. “Oh… Oh!”

“Yeah. Thanks for that warning.”

“I didn’t think anyone did that anymore…”

“Well, apparently the Malfoys do.”

Hyacinth shook her head. “Well in that case, I’m sure we’ve got a ton of other warnings for you before you walk down the aisle.”

Rowena glared at the text in front of her. “Wonderful.”
