Morgan frowned at Dare. “That’s black.”
“It is not. It’s navy blue.” Dare crossed her arms over her chest. “You didn’t say what kind of blue I had to wear and it’s a fucking dress. Be glad of that much.” Dare pulled uncomfortably at the ¾ length sleeves of the dress and began fiddling with the tie that rested just over her hip.
Morgan shook her head. “Would you stop futzing with the dress! You look great.”
“I look like a…”
“Girl?” Morgan cocked an eyebrow at her friend before moving to the full length mirror on the door. She leaned in, smoothing the asymmetrical skirt of her own dress. She adjusted the thin straps at her shoulders and took one more look at the outfit. The dress was a brilliant shade of blue, just slightly softer than cobalt. The sandals strapped to her feet were a burnished silver that matched the bracelet and necklace she wore. She spun one more time, threw a lacy white shawl over her shoulders and turned back to Dare. “Ready to go?”
“Yeah, let’s get this over with.”
“That’s the spirit.” Morgan wrapped an arm around Dare’s waist with a wry smile as the two women moved out into the hallway and toward the last door on the left. “Wanna see if she’s panicking yet?” Dare let out a soft chuckle as Morgan knocked.
Roxxy opened the door and smiled. Her tea length dress was simple, and royal blue. A single strand pearl necklace sat on the bateau neckline, and her long dark hair pulled up in a simple twist. “It’s about time.” She smiled and stepped aside, letting them into the room.
“Where’s Haley?”
“Throwing up.” Roxxy chuckled lightly. “One of those lovely wedding rituals that no one tells you about.”
“It’s morning sickness.” Jehnna shook her head and smooth out her own tea length dress and adjusted the soft sheer cap sleeves. It was a brighter color than any of them had ever seen Jehnna wear, but she had pointed out that Haley loved blue, so sapphire blue it was.
“I don’t know. I’d be throwing up if I had to spend the rest of my life with that guy.” Dare flopped down in a chair across from Jehnna.
“Ha. Ha. Ha.” Haley slipped out of the bathroom. “Good thing you don’t have to, then, isn’t it?” She smiled; hair still perfect from the appointment the girls had been to earlier that morning. Haley had laughed so hard at the look the stylist gave both Jehnna and Dare. You’d think the woman had never seen purple or blue hair before.
“Feeling better?”
“Oh yeah. All done and minty fresh.” She glanced at the clock on that wall. “I guess its time to get ready then…” She fiddled absently with the sash that held her robe closed.
“Haley?” Morgan’s brow furrowed a little. “What is it?”
“It’s nothing… I just keep thinking that someone’s going to… I don’t know… bust through the window and screw this up.”
“I think you two have had quite enough of that in the last week.” Roxxy put a comforting arm around her best friend’s shoulder. “Come on. Today is going to be perfect.” Roxxy placed a kiss on her cheek and went for the dress. For once, Haley actually believed that yes… today was going to be perfect.

“Would ya just stop pacin’ fer a minute?” Ben Grimm watched Johnny’s reflection pass through the frame of the mirror in front of him for the hundredth time since he started trying to tie his bow tie. Not an easy thing to do when one has four rocky fingers on each hand to work with. “What’s got you so worked up? I thought you were all ready for this.”
“I am!” Johnny’s voice was shaking a little. “But what if she changes her mind? What if…”
“Kid, she stole a plane and flew half way around the world less than a week ago ta save yer over heated ass. I don’t think she’s goin’ anywhere.” Ben finally finished up with his tie and turned back toward Johnny. “Crazy as that seems ta the rest a’ us.”
“Ha. Ha. Ha.” Johnny stopped. “It just doesn’t seem like things can just… you know… go smoothly.”
“And all that crap with Doom this week? That ain’t enough for ya?”
“Has it ever been?”
“I see yer point.” Ben grinned at his friend. “Don’t worry about it, kid. I think we all get one good day. Maybe this one’s yers.”
“That’s likely.” The blond ran a hand through his hair for the umpteenth time.
“Weirder stuff has happened.”
“That’s what worries me.” He turned to the door as a soft knock echoed through the room.
“Aren’t you dressed yet?” Susan frowned at him and started buttoning the last buttons on his shirt before he even had the door all the way opened.
“Bet I’m farther along than you thought I’d be.”
“That’s not the point. People are going to start arriving soon.”
“Okay, okay.” He pushed her hands away from his shirt collar. “Is Reed all set?”
“Next on my list,” She smiled up at her brother.
“Better get movin’ then, Suzie. God knows it’ll take more ta get Stretch ready than either a’ us.”
Johnny batted her hands away from his tie. “Sue, seriously. I can dress myself.”
“Well then, do it.” She smiled. “I’m sorry. This is the last time I get to be the one on you about all this kind of stuff. You’re Haley’s problem after today.”
“Gee, that’s sweet, sis. Thanks.”
“Only you could be a smart ass on your wedding day.”
“I’m sure there are a few other people out there that could pull it off.”

It was a beautiful day. Crisp and clear, if a little chilly, but still pleasant. Especially for the beginning of November. Hank leaned on the ledge in front of him and regarded the bustling city below. “Nothing quite as invigorating as the beginning of something beautiful.” Hank smiled out at the city. He expected some sort of response from the man next to him, and when none came, he turned to face his long time friend. “Something bothering you, Warren?”
“Me? No. Not a thing.”
“Well that was convincing.” Hank’s eyebrow rose significantly. “You were obviously deep into some thought that you don’t want to share.” A low chuckle rumbled in the doctor’s chest. “All weddings are similar, but every marriage is different.”
“What?” Warren’s brow furrowed a little.
“You aren’t the only one with a little gold band on your mind lately, Mr. Worthington.” Hank chuckled again.
It was Warren’s eyebrow’s turn to rise. “Thinking of settling down, Beast?”
“I think I settled down some time ago, I just didn’t take the time to notice. But the thought of making it official; of getting up and saying the words… it has been lingering lately.”
Warren nodded and resumed looking at the skyline. “Yeah.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Not feeling particularly loquacious, are we?”
Warren shrugged. “What else is there to say? I understand the feeling. The thought has occurred to me too. What else is there to say?”
“I’m not sure.” Hank chuckled again. “I’ve never had this conversation before. I’m sure there is some Emily Post entry on the etiquette of discussing the possibility of marriage but I’m sure it is far more in tune with actually talking to one’s intended.”
“That might be useful too.” Warren sighed heavily.
“Marriage is our last, best chance to grow up.” Hank patted his friend on the shoulder and both men stared out over the city. “I bought a ring.” Hank’s voice was even, soft and a little low, as if he were nervous that someone else might overhear.
“You what?”
“I bought a ring. For Rosemary.”
“Well, yeah. I assumed it was for Roxxy. Have you…?”
“No. Everything has been so hectic lately… I thought after everything settles down a little. A nice dinner… or we could go out on the lake. That would be lovely… a little poetry perhaps?” he shrugged, fighting the urge to readjust his tie.
“If anyone can find the right poetry, it’s you, Hank.” Warren let out a bit of a laugh. “A real love story has no ending.”
“Well put, my friend. Who said that?”
“I have no idea, Hank.” Warren gazed out along the skyline again. “We’re going to end up two old married men, aren’t we?” It was more a statement than a real question. There was also a warm tone to his voice, a comfort in the idea that Hank had to smile at.
“With any luck, yes. Yes, we will.” Hank’s smile changed, becoming a little wistful as he looked over his shoulder, looking for the source of a pair of loud giggles. Logan and Remy were seated a little way away, each with a small bundle in their lap. Tamlyn was batting at one of Dierdre’s pigtails with an intense sense of amazement. The small blonde girl did not seem to appreciate this and was fighting back, causing both children to giggle with abandon. Remy smiled indulgently at the boy in his lap, and Logan looked about ready to defend his little girl’s honor. Soon there would be one more little giggle in there, and no doubt as time went on, many more. He silently hoped that one day there would be a little girl or boy with their mother’s amber eyes…
Warren’s chuckle pulled him out of his reverie. “One step at a time, Hank.”
“Indeed.” Hank nearly shook his head. “I think one shot gun wedding is enough for any family.”

As the music started, Haley felt her breath hitch a little. “Are you ready, Sweet Pea?” Her dad patted her hand lightly. She thought for a moment that she’d never been asked such a loaded question in her life. Was she ready? A slow smile crossed her face. Four years of lying to herself, of running away from things that she couldn’t change… no, it’d been longer than four years. Now, no more excuses. No more running away. Now, she was ready.
She looked at her father and nodded.
A swell of pride and love greeted her as she came through the archway to the rooftop garden. Nothing could dull those feelings as she moved closer, and his smile widened. As she got closer, he held out a hand to her. Her father handed her over, so to speak; a moment that, until then had always bothered her at weddings, but now, with her hand in his, she didn’t want it any other way.
As far as she was concerned it could have just been the two of them and the minister up there. The rest of the world just fell away as the minister spoke of love and togetherness and sharing one’s life with another. She only had eyes for Johnny.
This hadn’t been a moment he’d really considered for any length of time in his life. He believed, for most of that life that he wasn’t ever going to get to a point where marriage was something he’d consider. Not really. Not until her. And there she was; an absolute vision in creamy silk, floating toward him. It was unreal. She was really there, really willing to spend the rest of her life with him. The link between them flared for a moment when she took his hand, washing him in a flood of emotions. Joy, surety, and above everything else, love.
The minister’s voice made him pull himself out of the rush of emotions. “I, Jonathan, take you, Haley, to be my beloved wife, to have and to hold you, to honor you, to treasure you, to be at your side in sorrow and in joy, in the good times, and in the bad, and to love and cherish you always. I promise you this from my heart, for all the days of my life.” Her eyes slid from his face to the ring he slipped onto her finger. When she looked up again, her eyes sparkled, tears starting to gather and a smile that he was sure he’d never forget crossing her lips.
“I, Haley, take you, Jonathan, to be my beloved husband, to have and to hold you, to honor you, to treasure you, to be at your side in sorrow and in joy, in the good times, and in the bad, and to love and cherish you always.” Her voice shook a little as a few tears fell and she laughed softly. “I promise you this from my heart, for all the days of my life.” She slipped the ring on his finger, and he slipped her a tissue. She looked up and her smile widened as he winked at her.
The minister went on for a few more minutes about the joy of family, the sanctity of these vows they were taking, about the love and commitment they shared. And then the moment came. “By the power vested in me by the state of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” The minister smiled. “You may kiss the bride.”
The world around them slowed as his arm slid around her waist, pulling her a little closer. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders and she bit her lip a little before the soft pressure of his lips pressed against hers. Both of them were absolutely sure that nothing had ever felt better than that kiss.
The next hour was a blur of congratulations, hugs, pictures and laughter. By the time Haley managed to get back to her husband’s side she was more than ready to sit down. Johnny slipped his arm around her waist as they waited outside the room that had been set up for the meal and dance. “So, Mrs. Storm,” He smiled and kissed to her cheek, “was it all you wanted it to be?”
“More.” She smiled back. “You know none of this really mattered, right?”
“None of it?”
“Well, it’s nice.” She shrugged. “But you know what I really wanted out of all this?”
“What?”
“You.” She pressed her lips to his.
“Well you’ve got me.” He gave her one more soft kiss. “You ready?”
“Absolutely.”
A moment later, Peter Parker’s voice came through the doors. “For the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny and Haley Storm.” Applause welcomed them into the room, and Haley turned to make their way toward the head table when Johnny pulled her back.
“Wait. We have something to do first.” He led her onto the dance floor.
“But I thought…”
“Just go easy on me, beautiful.” He pulled her close as the music started. Some idiot had told him at one point that they should make their first dance something fun to watch. He’d considered that for a total of five seconds before he dismissed it completely. This was for them. This was so they could have those few minutes in each others arms to soak everything in before they had to go back to their party and their guests. He pressed a kiss to her neck. “I love you.”
She pulled back a bit and smiled. “I love you too.” She rested her head on his shoulder as they moved around the floor. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Everything.” She smiled again.
He kissed her lips softly. “You’re welcome.”
A blur of speeches, toasts, dinner and dancing took up most of the night. Roxxy’s toast to the bride was lovely and touching. Ben’s toast to the groom was surprisingly warm. Susan and Haley’s parents did the traditional welcome to the family speeches. Everyone kept it short, thankfully and the evening flew by.
Before she knew it, Haley was standing with her back to all the single women in the room and ready to toss her bouquet. She chuckled a little and threw the flowers. When she turned, Roxxy was holding them and looking a little stunned.
Haley chuckled lightly and patted her friend’s shoulder. “Give yourself more than two weeks to plan.” She hugged Roxxy and threw a wink at Hank.
A half hour later, though she’d never be sure where that time went, she was piled in the back of a limo with Johnny. As soon as the door closed, his lips were on hers. “You look so beautiful.” He nibbled softly on her ear. “It was all I could do not to grab you and haul you off to the coat room.”
She smiled, letting her hands slide between him and his suit jacket. “You know, I might just have liked that.” He claimed her lips again, but the ride to the hotel was far too short to go much further. They hurried through the check in and quickly made their way up to the suite. The bell boy shot Johnny a knowing grin as he set their over night bags near the door and promptly disappeared.
He went about checking out the room, throwing his suit jacket and tie on a chair near the bed and going out onto the small terrace to enjoy the view. She had slipped into the bathroom with her bag soon after they got there. “Johnny?” He turned and went back in. What he saw made his breath catch.
She stood near the bed, in the soft, warm light of the room in a sheer ivory baby doll. The cups and the matching thong had soft lace details and panels of chiffon floated down just over her hips. Her hair sat in waves on her shoulders. She smiled and he was done for. He crossed the room in a few long strides and took her in his arms. She moaned as he kissed her, his fingers playing over the softness of her skin and the fabric.
Her fingers flew over the buttons of his shirt as his lips moved down her neck, sucking gently on the spot where her neck met her shoulder. His hands moved over the swell of her breasts, finding the clip that held the nightie together. “God, Haley…” He claimed her lips again as he moved the scrap of fabric away from her. Her moans deepened as he stroked his fingers over the silk between her thighs. “I love that sound.” He kissed her again and smiled. “Promise me you’ll never stop making that sound.”
“If you keep doing that,” her hips bucked up a little, “I promise.” She claimed his lips and quickly got him out of the rest of his clothes. She settled on the bed, scooting up to rest her head on a pillow. His lips pressed against her belly for a moment before his fingers slid her thong down off her hips. A shiver worked its way up her spine as he kissed up her thighs. “Johnny…” she moaned softly, her hips lifting a little.
“Shh… we’ve got all the time in the world, Haley.” He let his tongue trail over her sex, teasing her until a quiet whimper escaped her lips. He gripped her hips as he tongue delved between her folds, lavishing attention on her clit before dipping just into her.
Her body trembled, soft gasps escaping her parted lips as he traced slow circles around her clit. Every nerve caught fire, her muscles pulling tight as he sucked the tiny bundle of nerves into his mouth, driving her over the edge. Each soft flick of his tongue sent a wave of pleasure through her, bolt after bolt of sensation driving all thought from her mind.
When his lips finally moved back to her thigh, giving her a chance to catch her breath, she ran her fingers through his hair. “Johnny, please…” Her voice was soft, just a hint of a moan coloring it as he let his fingers move over her sensitive sex. He trailed lazy kisses up her body, stopping to properly worship her breasts, making her moan again, before rising up and claiming her lips.
A contented sigh left them both as he slid into her, filling her completely. His breath tickled her neck a moment before he spoke. “I love you.” He began to move before she could respond. Long, slow strokes sent sparks dancing across her vision.
She clung to him, wrapping herself around him. “I love you too.” Her moans grew louder as he slipped her leg over his shoulder. “God, Johnny… I’m…” Her head fell back against the pillow, her back arching off the mattress.
“Come for me, babe.” He whispered against her lips. “Let me feel you…” She lifted her head, claiming his lips again, feeding him her moans as her body tightened around him. She broke the kiss, crying out as she was thrown toward another peak.
He kept his pace, but each thrust seemed to go deeper, harder than the last one. “Johnny, god…” her voice gave out on her.
He moaned against her shoulder. “Haley…”
She felt him swell, triggering her own orgasm. He claimed her lips again as he spilt himself deep inside her. His lips continued to move over her neck and shoulder until he finally slipped out of her, rolling over and pulling her into his arms. Haley stared up at him, a content smile on her face. “I love you.”
He returned her smile letting it border on a smirk for a moment, his hand moving in slow circles over her back. “Lucky me.”
She laughed. “I’ll say.” She shook her head and rolled over, letting him spoon up against her back, his hand resting just below her belly button. “You know we’re going to have to get creative in the next few months if you want to keep doing this.” She smirked, her fingers twirling the band on his ring finger.
“I do love a challenge.” He nipped at her ear. “Haley?”
“Mmhmm?” She rolled in his arms to face him again.
“Thank you.”
Her brow crinkled a little. “For what?”
His hand rested on her belly again as he kissed her. “Everything.”

I need to get off my duff and get something done. So many universes, so little time. Seems unfair, doesn't it?
“I’m sorry. This is the last time I get to be the one on you about all this kind of stuff. You’re Haley’s problem after today.”
I remember my mother and I expressing similar views on my brother's impending marriage way back when...only the words were spoken with more relief and less regret. ;)

Too many universes... far too many. LOL
Hubby got a bit of that speech from his mom on the big day too. I think its one of those things that has to be said to a certain kind of guy. ;) LOL

Congrats! ^_^
Great chapter hon. I see why Johnny was being pesky about it. :-) Thankfully no uninvited guests attacked the wedding. They would have had a shit load of pissed off superheroes to deal with if anyone dared to.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, hun. Just one step left... *wibble*
