“Got it.” Azalea plunked herself down at the Slytherin table for lunch. Her eyes were drawn to where Rowena stood at the Gryffindor table. She managed to slip the Amortenia antidote into Neville’s drink along with something else that Azalea didn’t recognize. She turned to the others for an explanation.

“It’s a forgetfulness potion.” Hyacinth said quietly. “She wanted to make sure he wouldn’t feel like a total…” she paused.

“Loser.” Issobell finished her sentence for her.

Hyacinth looked at her friend and sighed. “Yeah, exactly.” She admitted grudgingly. She turned to Issobell, ready to defend poor Neville, but Issobell’s attention had been drawn away.

“They’re not there.” She turned to Azalea, who’s attention had also drifted in the direction of the teachers table. All three looked down the Slytherin table. Draco was seated with his cronies further down. That was enough to convince them that they were not, in fact missing the all important meeting. Issobell looked back at Azalea who, after her unsatisfactory run-in with Oliver, seemed less than concerned. Hyacinth had gone back to her lunch and Rowena had sat down at the Ravenclaw table. Issobell’s frown deepened. Would this day never end? She hated being kept in the dark. That’s when it dawned on her. “I’m not very hungry. I’ll see you guys later.” She got up and hurried from the hall, dodging other students as she went. She knew she had about a half hour until classes started again, and she figured that was enough time to get this done.

She reached the heavy office door rather quickly, and pushed it open without knocking. “Professor?” The room was dark, darker than usual and it took a moment for her eyes to adjust. Finally, she could see him standing in front of his desk.

His hands held most of his weight as he leaned forward, his head hanging in a manner than made him seem absolutely dejected. “Not now, Issobell.” She was slightly startled. He’d never used her first name since she’d arrived here.  Neither of them moved for time and she nearly jumped a foot when he sighed heavily. “Do you remember what I told you when this all started?”

Issobell searched her mind as she spoke. “Yes. I do.”

“Well, my dear,” his voice was steely. “That day has finally come.” He turned to face her. “Now, get out.”

She straightened her spine a little. “No.”

Snape took a few steps closer to her. “We agreed that if this got too…”

She cut him off. “Yes, I remember. If it got too dangerous we’d stop.” She lowered her voice slightly, and dared something she’d barely thought of doing. “Severus…” she took a step closer to him. “Does this have to do with the Death Eaters that are still out there?”

He rested his hand on her shoulder for a moment as their eyes locked. “Don’t get involved in this, Issobell.” With that he swiftly pushed her from the room.

Issobell swore quietly to herself as she made her way back up to the Great Hall. She sat down just as the other girls were finishing up with their meals. When they asked her where she’d been, she frowned. The story poured out far more quickly than she had intended. Part of her felt better knowing a little more about her Sue, but the rest of her was hurt and angry that she’d been shoved aside.

As they all started out towards their afternoon classes, Rowena patted Issobell’s shoulder. “Just a few more hours, then we’ll know more.” The Ravenclaw flashed a smile at her friend as she rounded the corner. Rowena found herself in a rather empty hallway as she headed towards her History of Magic class. Just as she turned the last corner on her way, she was suddenly grabbed by the arm and pulled into a closet. “Hey!” She took a quick shot at whoever had grabbed her before she noticed who it was.

Draco ignored the slight pain in his shoulder where she hit him. “What are you up to, Rowena?”

She looked confused for a moment. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, Draco. Now, I have…”

He laughed slightly. “I saw Haverty with Longbottom this morning, and I know she can’t be that desperate. So what are you up to?”

“Nothing!” She pushed her way out of the closet and hurried into her class. She shook her head wearily. Apparently, every man in Hogwarts had taken their asshole pills that morning.
