i just want you to know that this response has been a roller coaster ride and i've been cackling like a mad woman over here reading through it. (now i'm going to have to scroll back up and re-read the comments to make sure i get to all of them)
to start: Rose and Tony
yeah. Rose has it bad already. she's just not ready to admit that to herself. no matter the situation the world is in, she's still a villain and he's still a hero. she's pretty sure she knows exactly how that will go.
i'm so glad you took note of all the plant-ish comments in regard to Rose and her budding relationship with Tony. (see? i can do this all day) honestly, though, i really felt that those kinds of comparisons were good ones to make. because Rose has been all about the plants since that disastrous event in high school (totally keeping origins.) so they kind of felt natural.
no. i don't think Rose stands any chance of not falling for Tony. which is part of the reason she's falling back into anger. there is another reason that, unless i forget, will become apparent later in the fic. it will also explain a few other things. but for now, her anger is her refuge against Tony and his charm. and that felt natural to me, an absolutely organic way for Rose to react to something new and unexpected and taboo and wanted.
looking at this part now, a couple days after having written it, it almost feels to me like a reversal of roles from the Supervillainess fics. it almost feels like Rose is the one falling victim to her own short comings and all. not the way Tony did, obviously. but it kind of has that feel to it. and i think i honestly love that, despite it being absolutely unintentional and accidental. but i really did try to keep Rose looking like the Rose we had in the other timeline. so i'm glad that i've at least partially succeeded?
and, yes. Rose is completely doomed.
as to Miri and Alex:
they are going to have their hands full trying to find and bring Dare in. it doesn't help that there is reluctance to do with her what Fury wants to do, but they tend to follow orders when there's no way around it. Dare does absolutely put off that "mommy and daddy didn't love me enough" vibe, but i think that's also just who she is as a person.
everything will be explained in the end. promise
as to Mister Random Idiot:
would it make you feel better if Cat didn't know it was Edward until his name was mentioned? because she absolutely didn't. and here i thought the flame thrower was a not so subtle hint. i guess i'll have to try harder next time.
you know, i'm not sure if Dare is the kind of person who would set anyone up for her fires (expect maybe Pyro, and that would only happen if she let him exist in the same space as her for more than half a millisecond), but she is all about self-preservation. so... there's that.
yes. SHIELD. shady government agency. i'm sure Edward just loved being hauled down to their HQ the way he did. and i feel like maybe i might have played a little fast and loose with his character there because he's always been good about keeping Ted just another one of the boys. "good old boy" is an accurate description of Ted. but he's been dealing with the vampire plague for months and he's seen what they can do and he's done with idiots not in the know presuming to tell him how they're going to fix things. so he got a little testy and basically told Nick Fury to go fuck himself without actually saying.
i'll bet they become fast friends when this is all said and done. just sayin'
but i am one hundred percent certain that he would never turn someone over to the government so they could use them as they would. he's been down that road himself. he didn't like the trip much, i think.
i don't think Roxxy would have anything to fear from Edward. she isn't his kind of target. she's actually pretty low key and, from what we've seen, not really prone to violence unless she has to be. so i don't think you need to worry.
and, finally, Clint and Dare:
we all know that Dare absolutely cannot fight the vampires all herself. especially not when one of them happens to be her first real love. shit's fucked up and she's not really equipped to deal with it. yes. Clint is already in way too deep
we'll just have to wait and see what's going on with Dare. no matter which way you look at it, it doesn't spell anything good for her. so...
it is time that they had a discussion. mind you, it wasn't a very deep one. they need to talk it out more. but it was at least a start. you know Dare isn't good with things like words and feelings and talking. if she can't burn it, she ignores it. and Clint... Clint really isn't much better on the feelings front. i'm sure they'll have a deeper discussion about their feelings later. after they've dealt with everything else.
i'm so glad you enjoyed it, sweetie. thanks for taking the time to leave me such a thoroughly enjoyable comment!
